As the deadline for candidacy in the 2021 Winter Park mayoral race approaches, Sarah Sprinkel and Phil Anderson, the sole candidates who have maintained their intent to run so far, continue to share their vision for the City. Both Sprinkel and Anderson announced their candidacy last fall.
In addition to continuing to campaign via her @electsprinkel Instagram account, Sprinkel held a socially distant campaign kickoff event at the Winter Park 9 Golf Course patio on Tuesday. She invited friends and supporters to pick up campaign merchandise including yard signs, t-shirts, and masks, to discuss their priorities for the City, and to hear her speak on why she is running for the position.
“The reason I want this job – and it is a job – the reason I want this honor – and it is an honor – is that I really represent you,” Sprinkel said at her kickoff event. “I am just like you, I always have been, and I promise… to continue that as I become your next mayor.”
Anderson has also kept up communications with his supporters and the general Winter Park public. This week, Anderson distributed an email reiterating his “commitment to giving Winter Park residents the representation they deserve.”
Issues such as protecting the City’s charm, responsible budget management, avoiding a rise in taxes, fully staffing the police and fire departments, and being transparent with residents about City projects while putting them first at City Hall are featured on Anderson’s list of priorities. Anderson plans to share details on how he will address these items in future correspondence.
The 2021 election will take place on March 9, 2021, and the final date to qualify for candidacy is January 19, at noon.
