On March 10, the City of Winter Park Commission unanimously approved to host the 26th Annual 4th of July Celebration from 9 a.m. to noon on Monday, July 5th at Central Park & West Meadow this summer.

Prior to the celebration, the Track Shack Annual Watermelon Run will kick off the day and is scheduled to begin at 7 a.m. Following the run, a flexible program schedule is outlined to include a “Welcome from Mayor and/or Commissioners Naturalization Ceremony” and performances from country singer Sean Holcomb and the Bach Festival Brass Ensemble and Choir.

A food giveaway, which will be comprised of pre-packaged apple pies and sliced watermelon, is planned to be held in a Kids and Family Zone in the West Meadow. The giveaway, along with a list of other activities, will be flexible according to pandemic updates in the months leading up to the celebration.

Throughout the events, activities, and programs that are scheduled for the annual celebration, the city will prioritize the health and safety of attendees by taking all CDC guidelines into consideration. The outdoor venue will provide plenty of green space for locals to reserve pods for stage shows and will offer additional seating for patrons on Park Avenue. Face masks will be encouraged by the emcee and will be distributed on site. The city will also set up EMT and handwashing stations.
