On Thursday morning, the Winter Park Fire-Rescue Department responded to a natural gas leak at the intersection of Park and Canton Avenues. The crew was able to quickly stop the leak and reopen the small section of Park Avenue that had been blocked off by 9 a.m. The section of Canton Avenue that stretches from Park Avenue to Center Street remains closed while the gas company continues to work on repairs.
In response to a comment on its Facebook page from a passerby who noted the scent of gas, Winter Park Fire-Rescue stated that there will be a faint smell of gas from the repairs being conducted but there is no present hazard with which to be concerned.
