The City of Winter Park announced schedule changes for this evening due to an approaching line of strong storms expected to impact the Central Florida area.

Residents are advised of the following adjustments:

  • City Hall and all city facilities including parks will close at 3:30 p.m.
  • Winter Park Community Center will remain open until 6:30 p.m. for after-school care only.
  • Canceled: 4 p.m. Civil Service Board meeting (rescheduled date TBD)
  • Canceled: 6 p.m. Planning & Zoning Board meeting (rescheduled to Wednesday, Jan. 17 at 6 p.m. in City Hall Commission Chambers).

According to local news reports, Central Florida is bracing for heavy rain with the possibility of strong thunderstorms and wind gusts reaching between 40 mph and 60 mph. Storms are expected to last until 7 p.m.

Tonight’s Planning & Zoning Board meeting was part of the public hearing schedule for the Rollins College off-campus housing project, proposed on five parcels along W. New England, W. Welbourne, and S. Virginia avenues. Anyone signed up for virtual access should register for the new date.
