Winter Park Police Chief Arrested for Domestic Violence

Winter Park Police Chief Michael Deal was arrested on a domestic violence charge on the night of Wednesday, Jan. 19. City of Winter Park
Communications & Public Engagement Director Clarissa Howard issued the following statement:

Last night we were made aware of the arrest of Winter Park Police Chief Michael Deal on alleged domestic violence charges. Until more information is available, Chief Deal has been placed on administrative leave. Division Chief Pam Marcum is in charge of the department until further notice.

According to reports on the Orlando Sentinel website and WESH 2 News, the arrest happened in Seminole County. Jail records show Deal faces a battery charge and is being held without bond at Seminole County jail. His court date is set for Thursday at 2 p.m. This is a developing story.
