Orlando-based gourmet steamed bun restaurant King Bao is coming to Winter Park in 2022, according to a recent post on its Instagram page. This will mark the brand’s third location in Central Florida.

Established in 2016, King Bao currently has two locations in Orlando on N. Mills Ave. and E. Colonial Dr. According to King Bao’s Instagram page, the Winter Park restaurant is set to acquire the previous home of Bad As’s Sandwich on 1881 W. Fairbanks Ave.

Baos are described on King Bao’s website as “a Chinese version of a sandwich and a very popular street food in East Asia.” Guests can order baos packed with a variety of meats, vegetables, and other toppings from the menu, which features items with names such as “Hogzilla,” “Mr. Potato Head,” and “Veganville.”

Guests can also order a variety of tater tot options, and from a dessert menu consisting of a fried bao with Nutella, bananas, and powdered sugar, or an ice cream bao fried with caramel sauce and ground honey roasted peanuts.
