Orange Avenue Overlay Public Forum to Address Transportation Issues

Share This:

The Orange Avenue Overlay (OAO) project will be the subject of a virtual public forum set to be held by the Winter Park Planning and Transportation Department on Thursday, March 4, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

The Orange Avenue Overlay project has been a contentious subject over the past year, after City Commissioners voted in April to repeal their initial adoption of an overlay plan for the corridor. Since then, additional work sessions have been held and additional study materials gathered.

Topics addressed at the forum will include traffic related to potential redevelopment, travel patterns, strategies to reduce congestion and improve safety, multi-modal transportation within the OAO, parking options, and funding strategies for transportation improvements.

Engineering firm Kimley-Horn and City planners will discuss possible transportation options, including adding a multi-use path, developing a new park, and widening sidewalks to make transportation safer for people walking, bicycling, and driving. Additional information about the Orange Avenue Overlay project can be found on the City of Winter Park’s website here
