On December 8, former Winter Park Mayor Allen Trovillion, born in 1926, passed away at 94 years of age. Trovillion, who was born and raised in Winter Park, graduated from Winter Park High School with the class of ’44 and went on to serve in World War II in the US Army Air Corps. He later continued his studies in building construction at the University of Florida and opened his own construction company after graduating. He served as Winter Park’s mayor from 1962-67 before being elected as a Florida State House Representative in 1994, a position he held until 2002.
Trovillion’s contributions to the Winter Park community were plentiful and included acting as a trustee for Winter Park Memorial Hospital, president of Rotary Club of Winter Park, and chairman of the Winter Park Chamber of Commerce Advisory Board. He also dedicated time to other Central Florida and Greater Orlando organizations.
In addition to his business and career as a public servant, Trovillion raised eight children and enjoyed activities such as coaching baseball and playing golf.
