Two Winter Park Residents Set to Run for Orange County Commission

Last week, former state representative Mike Miller filed and qualified to run for Orange County Commission District 5. The qualification makes Miller, a Republican from Winter Park, the second Winter Park resident slated to run in the race this year. Fellow Winter Park resident and Republican, Anjali Vaya, will also be running in the race against incumbent Orange County District 5 Commissioner Emily Bonilla, a Democrat.

The primary election for the commission seat will take place on August 18. If one candidate receives more than 50% of the vote, he or she will win outright. If not, the two candidates to receive the most votes will face each other in November’s general election.

Winter Park Mayor Steve Leary withdrew from the race earlier this year to focus more on his family and his businesses.
