2023 in Review: Our 5 Most Popular Stories of the Year

As holiday vacations begin and weekly deadlines become 2024 tasks, it’s also time to take stock of what we’ve seen and done over the past 12 months. We at the32789 are thankful for another year of following and sharing the news of Winter Park with our readers, but what stories were read and shared the most?

There was plenty to write about in 2023, from new businesses to ongoing neighborhood concerns. Using Google Analytics, we tracked the numbers and compiled the list of our five most popular stories of the year.

5. City Approves Safety Enhancements for S.R. 426: Published July 17

The neighborhood-led initiative to improve safety along Osceola, Brewer, and Aloma avenues began in 2022. The result is a plan for upgrades, from raised crosswalks to pedestrian barriers, that will be part of an FDOT road maintenance project. 4. Celebrate the Season with Holiday Events around Winter Park: Published Nov. 20

Holiday events will always generate interest and Winter Park’s packed schedule generated plenty of interest in 2023 – in attendance and on our website. 3. Upscale Winter Park Lounge Follows its Own Code: Published Dec. 8

The management team of Shannon Beaty and Ulrich Stanley Marine opened their high-end lounge concept just steps away from the Park Avenue restaurant and retail hub. The venue proved to be a popular addition with a social media buzz that keeps bringing in new clientele. Click here for a look around the club and behind the scenes.

2. The Imperial Bids Fond Farewell to Morse Blvd., Anxiously Awaits Park Ave. Opening: Published Oct. 13

One of Winter Parks’ most popular spots ended its run at the Morse Blvd. address it called home for five years, but it will be back. Owner John Washburn is planning to reopen The Imperial on Park Avenue next summer, and its legion of fans will, no doubt, be there. Those fans made The Imperial second most popular story of 2023. the32789 began covering the Winter Park Village renovation when plans were announced in 2020. Updates on its progress were consistently popular with our readers and a story announcing the addition of new retail tenants Free People, Kendra Scott and SkinCeuticals SkinLab was our most popular story of the year.
