The City of Winter Park will host a morning of sustainable solutions and eco-friendly alternatives with the second Sustainability Fair & EV Car Show on Saturday, Sept. 23, from 9-11 a.m. at Central Park West Meadow.
Presented by the city’s Natural Resources & Sustainability Department – in cooperation with sponsors Audi North Orlando, Genesis North Orlando and Holler Hyundai – the event will observe National Drive Electric Week with an exhibit of more than 30 electric vehicles including cars, trucks, e-bikes, and one of Orange County Public Schools’ electric school buses.
The OCPS electric bus pilot program began last February, making Orange County the first district in Florida to utilize EV transportation for students. In addition to reducing air pollutants, the program is evaluating cost-savings compared to traditional bus services that require diesel fuel and oil changes.
Winter Park’s EV show was inspired by public interest in the electric car displays at the 2022 Earth Day celebration. Last year’s show featured Nautique Boat Company’s first 100% electric model and a fully restored 1974 Electric Citicar, originally manufactured by the Sebring-Vanguard company of Sebring, FL.
Vendors including Electrification Coalition, League of Women Voters of Orange County, New Life Ebike Co., Winter Park Library, and Zenyge will also be in attendance, and free Kona Ice will be offered to help attendees beat the heat.
