Fans of Park Avenue’s Garp & Fuss have been speculating about its long-term status since the six-year-old eatery abruptly closed its doors in March. Marked as “temporarily closed” on its Google listing, the venue recently took to social media to announce a “Grand Reopening Week,” set to begin on August 27th.
The restaurant first opened in January of 2018 in the 348 N. Park Ave. space previously held by The Bistro on Park Avenue. Owners Nikki Nielsen and Liz Zucco earned a following for their eclectic American fusion menu that ranged from pork banh mi to charcuterie to tacos. The unique name, inspired by the nicknames of Zucco’s younger sisters, also helped set the establishment apart from Winter Park’s expansive restaurant roster. Unconfirmed rumors of staffing shortages followed the sudden shuttering and requests for comment were not successful.
Despite the lack of details, reservations are once again available via the Garp & Fuss website and the social media response to its upcoming return has been exuberant. A reopening announcement, posted on August 14th to the restaurant’s Instagram account, racked up more than 1,300 “likes” with nearly 700 and counting for the August 20th post of a reopening date. Additional posts from management tease the soon-to-be-released new menu that will include “favorites and great new additions,” and the return of “green juice” – an ingredient in their signature “No Muss No Fuss” cocktail.
More information will be available on the Garp & Fuss social media pages as the grand reopening approaches.
