The City of Winter Park is advising the public of planned upgrades along Denning Drive between West Webster and Solana avenues. Work will begin on Tuesday, June 25, and run through Friday, Aug. 9. The project will widen traffic lanes and add a 10-foot-wide multimodal path with 10 feet of buffer space landscaped with shade trees.

The additions are the latest in the ongoing Denning Drive Improvement Project, which previously installed a right-turn lane from South Denning Drive to West Fairbanks Avenue. The project is funded by the city’s Community Redevelopment Agency and is among several initiatives to improve traffic safety and connectivity. The Denning Drive multimodal path will connect to existing bicycle and pedestrian paths that connect city businesses, residential areas, and recreational amenities.

Another improvement project resulting from the Winter Park Road Crisis Campaign will address safety along Osceola, Brewer, and Aloma avenues. FDOT is planning to add raised intersections, medians, and high visibility crosswalks to that stretch of State Road 426 during a road repaving project scheduled to begin next year. The Winter Park Transportation Master Plan will also create additional connectivity and safety upgrades throughout the city.

The Denning Drive construction schedule is subject to weather conditions and commuters should expect delays, obey warning signs, and exercise caution. For more information on improvements and the schedule, call 407-599-3521 and check cityofwinterpark.org for updates.
