Another piece of the Winter Park Village puzzle will officially be in place when Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams holds its grand opening event at 510 Orlando Ave. #102 on Thursday, Nov. 9, from 7-11 p.m. The event will feature free ice cream scoops for everyone in attendance and special bonus gifts for the first 50 people in line.

“We’ve been eyeing the greater Orlando area for a while now, just waiting for a spot that felt right,” Jeni’s Social Media Community Manger Kate Gentille told the32789. “Our ideal locations are in walkable areas where we feel we can become a part of the community; Winter Park Village fits the bill.”

The Ohio-based company was founded in 2002 by Jeni Britton, a James Beard Award-winning ice cream maker and entrepreneur who started out by blending her own essential oils for her recipes. Britton fostered partnerships with family farms and independent providers to create a range of unique flavors like Sweet Potato Marshmallow Brulee, Goat Cheese with Red Cherries, and Sweet Cream Biscuits & Peach Jam. Several best-selling flavors became regular items at Whole Foods, Publix, and The Fresh Market locations. Jeni’s currently has 27 scoop shop locations in 12 states with the Winter Park shop as its third Florida address after Sarasota and Tampa.

According to Gentille, the Winter Park scoop shop began soft openings over the summer but chose to wait for a full grand opening event until nearby construction slowed down. Exterior renovations continue next door at the Regal theater, but street upgrades and the nearby greenspace are complete.

The facade of the Regal Winter Park Village movie theater, next door to the Jeni’s scoop shop, is nearing completion but the nearby greenspace is finished.

As previously reported by the32789, Winter Park Village features a new environmental design that represents the largest construction project the outdoor retail center has undergone since it was converted from the former Winter Park Mall in the late 1990’s. New building facades compliment a redesign of outdoor areas meant to engage guests and create new event spaces. Recent tenant openings include lifestyle and jewelry company Kendra Scott, Chayote Barrio Kitchen by celebrity chef Mario Pagán, and SkinCeuticals SkinLab.
