Ward Park to Host Earth Day Events on April 30

The City of Winter Park Natural Resources & Sustainability Department, Keep Winter Park Beautiful & Sustainable Advisory Board, and the Center for Health & Wellbeing will present the Ward & Wellbeing Earth Day Block Party on Saturday, April 30, at Ward Park located at 250 Perth Lane.

Festivities begin at 7:30 a.m. with the 29th “Run for the Trees” Jeannette Genius McKean Memorial 5k, presented by the Center for Health & Wellbeing. Guests can register at TrackShack.com and bring their old running shoes to recycle through the Sneaker Seekers program.

The block party will run from 8 to 11:30 a.m. with a full schedule of activities, live music, and giveaways in Ward Park and at the Center for Health & Wellbeing.

Certified arborists from the City’s Urban Forestry Division will be available to answer questions and give away a variety of containerized trees to “Run for the Trees” participants. Residents can receive their free tree by signing up at the Community Canopy Program.

Residents are advised of impacts to the following local streets on Saturday, April 30, from 3 a.m. to noon:

“We want this celebration to showcase how the city and its partners, Track Shack and the Center for Health & Wellbeing, are working together to make the city sustainable. We can’t wait to celebrate with everyone,” said Natural Resources & Sustainability Department Director Gloria Eby in a prepared statement.
