Winter Park Police Chief Resigns After Domestic Violence Allegations, Arrest

Winter Park Police Chief Michael Deal has tendered his resignation, effective today, January 26. City Manager Randy Knight made the announcement during today’s City Commission meeting.

Deal was arrested on a domestic violence charge on January 19, and released the next day on a $500 bond.

In his letter of resignation, Deal stated: “I am resigning form my position as Chief of Police of the Winter Park Police Department. I am leaving this agency at the highest level of policing to include Community Service, Public Trust, and Integrity. The morale in the agency could not be better.”
