Public records show that a lawsuit including eviction proceedings has been filed against the owners of Dexter’s New Standard restaurant, commonly referred to as The New Standard, which opened in Winter Park’s Ravaudage complex in October 2019. The lawsuit, filed by the landlord, Sydgan Corporation, is seeking compensation for two months of missed rent along with additional damages.
The New Standard opened shortly after owners Nathan and Kellie Landwer purchased Dexter’s of Winter Park. The couple closed the Hannibal Square location of Dexter’s and underwent a rebrand, giving way to The New Standard concept. Chef Ryan McLaughlin was hired by the Landwers to open The New Standard kitchen in October 2019 but left in March of this year.
Best known for its live music, extensive cocktail and wine collection, and menu featuring locally sourced, seasonal ingredients, The New Standard does not currently appear to be operating. As reported by the Orlando Weekly, a sign is posted to the door that reads “we are temporarily closed for cleaning and renovation” and the restaurant has not opened to guests in over three weeks.
There is no indication on the restaurant’s website or social media that the eatery would be temporarily closed and the restaurant’s Facebook account, which is typically very active with several updates posted every week to its feed, has not been updated since August 25.
