As Winter Park Playhouse continues the search for a new home, it’s business as usual under the spotlights. A recent lease extension to August of 2025 has allowed the nonprofit to set the stage for a new season of Mainstage Musicals. Beach parties, driving rhythms, and hilarious holiday headaches highlight the 2024-25 season.
The six-show series begins in August and runs through June with new subscription sales beginning Wednesday, Feb. 14. “You Pick Three” mini-subscriptions and single ticket sales start on April 2. Two preview performances – one evening and one matinee prior to opening night – will also be offered at a reduced ticket price. The list of productions and showtimes is as follows:
8-Track – The Sounds of the 70’s – running August 2-25 with previews on August 1 and 2. Rediscover the heart and soul of the 70’s with this rousing musical featuring tunes by The Emotions, The Carpenters, Barry Manilow, Marvin Gaye, The Doobie Brothers, The Bee Gees and more.
(Stephen Schwartz’s) Snapshots – running September 20 through October 13 with previews on September 19 and 20. Winter Park Playhouse is presenting the southeast regional premier of this new musical featuring an outstanding score by Academy Award-winning composer, Stephen Schwartz. The production incorporates more than two dozen of his beloved songs from Wicked,Pippin, Godspell and more. A married couple embarks on a beautiful journey to the past, rediscovering their true love, after discovering a box of photographs.
Wreck The Halls! – running November 15 through December 21 with previews on November 14 and 15. In another southeast regional premier, this musical comedy unfolds in a series of comic and poignant vignettes with four actors bringing 46 characters to life, celebrating everything that drives us crazy about Christmas and why we love it anyway.
The Bikinis – running January 24 through February 22, 2025, with previews on January 23 and 24. The 1960’s girl group is back together again and bringing back the sun, fun and all the great songs they sang down on the boardwalk in 1964. With a show that promises to get everyone dancing in the aisles, the women relive their heyday and beyond, singing hits like “It’s in His Kiss,” “Yellow Polka Dot Bikini,” “Heat Wave,” “Under the Boardwalk,” “When Will I Be Loved,” “It’s Raining Men”and more.
Gigolo – The New Cole Porter Revue – running March 14 through April 12, 2025, with previews on March 13 and 14. Inspired by the life of Porfirio Rubirosa, Gigolo uses a collection of iconic Cole Porter songs to tell the tale of a jet-setting, international playboy and his relationships with four beautiful women. The score features 25 Cole Porter classics including “You’re the Top,” “Let’s Do It,” “Why Can’t You Behave,” “I’ve Got You Under My Skin” and many more. The production was an audience favorite from the Playhouse’s 1st Annual Florida Festival of New Musicals.
Route 66 – running May 9 through June 8, 2025, with previews on May 8 and 9. From the sounds of 1950’s Chicago to the California surf music of the 1960’s, this exciting musical revue features 34 of the greatest ‘Rock ‘n’ Road’ hits of the 20th century including “Dead Man’s Curve,” “King of the Road,” “Little Old Lady from Pasadena,” “Fun, Fun, Fun,” and many more.

The Playhouse will also hold auditions for its upcoming season on February 6 and 13, from 11:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. Auditions are by appointment only and will take place at The Winter Park Playhouse. Audition requirements:
- Prepare 16-32 bars of an up-tempo and a ballad (classic musical theatre pieces preferred) and a one-minute comic monologue.
- Bring sheet music in your key – an accompanist will be provided. No tapes or CDs permitted.
- Bring two non-returnable headshots and resumes.
For shows requiring dancing, combinations will be taught at the call-backs in March.
