Runners, walkers, and nature lovers are invited to a celebration of sustainability and wellness as Winter Park’s Natural Resources & Sustainability Department, Keep Winter Park Beautiful & Sustainable Advisory Board, and the Center for Health & Wellbeing present the Ward & Wellbeing Earth Day Block Party on Saturday, April 22, at Ward Park, located at 250 Perth Ln.

The day will begin at 7:30 a.m. with the 30th Run for the Trees Jeannette Genius McKean Memorial 5K. The course features a mile on Genius Drive; the winding, old Florida wilderness road that is only opened to the public for this event. All in-person finishers receive a one-gallon containerized tree to commemorate the event and beautify their own natural habitat.

Participants are invited to bring their old running shoes to recycle with co-presenter Track Shack through Sneaker Seekers; a non-profit working to provide new or gently used shoes to those in need.

After the 5K, the Earth Day Block Party will run from 8-11:30 a.m. with Ward Park hosting events that include vendors, free kids’ activities and art projects, and an electric car show.

The Center for Health & Wellbeing, located at 2005 Mizell Ave., will also host an activities schedule, beginning with a ticketed Rise & Dine Breakfast from Nourish Coffee Bar + Kitchen. Family friendly events include a scavenger hunt, wild animal meet & greets, and sample fitness classes.

Breakfast tickets are available here, and 5K participants can register through the event website. Event parking will be available at Ward Park parking lot and Fields B & C, and at the following locations:
