A South Florida sushi concept is expanding into Central Florida with a Winter Park location and a November opening date.

Sushi Sake debuted its @SushiSake_winterpark Instagram page, which lists the address as 840 N. Orlando Ave. The location, which formerly housed a Boston Market, is not on the company website but a Google Maps listing adds “Opens November” under the address.

According to the website, founders James and Angel Aguayo opened their first restaurant in the suburbs of Miami in 2009. To date, they have 26 locations between Boca Raton and Key Largo. The Winter Park restaurant would be the company’s first location outside the South Florida area.

Weekday hours at most Sushi Sake locations are from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. with some open until midnight or 1 a.m. on weekends. Winter Park hours are not yet listed.

The layout combines a traditional sushi bar with an exposed kitchen. Menu items include unique twists on Japanese dishes, like pineapple fried rice, along with hibachi, teriyaki, sushi, and sashimi.

Sushi Sake also offers daily specials, a full bar featuring a variety of Japanese sake, and a lunch and dinner menu available for delivery or takeout. Promotions include “99 Cent Sake Wednesday,” and seven of the franchises have partnered with Yelp to offer a digital waitlist for in-person dining.

Efforts to contact the company were unsuccessful but a visit to the Orlando Avenue location revealed a completed exterior with interior decor nearly finished.

Sushi Sake will take its place among Winter Park’s extensive selection of Japanese-inspired dining options including Park Avenue’s Umi Japanese Restaurant, Fuji Sushi Japanese Cuisine on Lee Road, and Michelin Star-winner Soseki Modern Omikase on Fairbanks Avenue.
