Frost, Wimbish take District 10 House Nominations in Florida Primary

The Florida Primary may be over, but the work has just begun as the race to the November election is under way.

According to the Orange County Supervisor of Elections website, total voter turnout stood at 21.89% with early voting accounting for 5.18%, election day voters accounting for 7.73%, and vote-by-mail ballots representing 8.9%.

Maxwell Alejandro Frost and Calvin Wimbish won their respective races for U.S. House District 10, which encompasses Seminole County and part of north Orange County, including Winter Park and Maitland.

The District 10 House races were among the widest fields of the election with a total of 16 candidates vying for the nominations. Frost won the Democratic side with 34.6% of the vote, beating out nine other candidates including Randolph Bracy who took 24.6% of the vote. Wimbish took 44.5% of the vote against five Republican challengers. Frost and Wimbish will face each other in the November election.

Jason Brodeur won the Republican State Senate District 10 race with 84.9% of the vote against challenger Denali Charres. Brodeur will face Democratic Rep. Joy Goff-Marcil in November.

Jerry Demings won another term as Orange County mayor with more than 59.4% of the vote while his wife, Congresswoman Val Demings, won her bid for the Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate with 84.3% of the vote. Val Demings will face Republican Sen. Marco Rubio in November.

In the race for governor, Charlie Crist took 59.8% of the vote to beat out three challengers for the Democratic nomination, including Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried. Crist will face Gov. Ron DeSantis in November.
