A Boston-area eatery known for New York-style bagels has chosen Winter Park for its first out-of-state address.
The Bagel Shop will occupy the former La Rima Café location at 211 W. Fairbanks Ave. According to management, its proximity to Rollins College is no accident.
“We opened the first shop near a local college and it’s always been busy,” Ben Kippen, manager of the company’s first location in Beverly Farms, Massachusetts, told the32789. “There’s a lot of foot traffic coming from Rollins and we thought it would be a good opportunity, so we went for it.”
The venue will be new but the menu will feature everything that fostered the company’s success:
- 14 types of bagels
- 13 spreads
- Breakfast and lunch sandwiches
- More than 20 specialty coffees
Orders can be placed in-person and online via the Toast platform, and the website offers a service to local restaurant industry peers with a donation program.
“We started that program during Covid-19 and wish to continue it now that we have pushed through the meat of the pandemic,” said The Bagel Shop co-owner Hunter Tuccio. “We imbed ourselves within the community and we want to imbed ourselves near Rollins College to provide locals and students with our products.”
Kippen, who is in the process of moving to Winter Park to manage the new location, looks forward to spreading the word and becoming part of the neighborhood.
“We’re more than just a coffee shop, it’s a more personalized experience,” he said. “We’re going to know your name, we’re going to know your order, and we want to be involved in the community.”
