Bank of America customers in Winter Park will have one less in-person banking option as the company recently announced the closing of a local branch.

Last week, customers were sent an email from the company stating the 750 S. Orlando Ave. location will close on May 23, 2023. The email reads as follows:

“Please note the nearby financial center you may have visited in the past or where you opened your account at 750 South Orlando Avenue, Winter Park, FL will close on 05/23/2023. Your account will stay the same, and we have specialists ready to provide you with the advice and guidance you need.”

The notice also informs customers of the nearest branch, located at 2905 Edgewater Drive. According to Bank of America spokesperson Matthew Daily, branch consolidation is not uncommon for the company.

“We are constantly looking at our network of locations and at customer preferences, and the patterns of how and where they’re choosing to bank with us,” he told the32789. “In certain instances we’ll have a couple of locations nearby, and in this instance I think it’s less than two miles away, so we’ve made the decision to consolidate those two locations because of their proximity.”

Daily also assures customers that the consolidation will not affect their accounts.

“Direct deposits will still happen, banking will happen just like always,” he said. “The only change of real note, besides the location changing, is that folks having safe deposit boxes need to make arrangements to claim their safe deposit contents before the closure.”

Customers are asked to make appointments to close their safe deposit boxes during branch hours, which remain Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

The email also advises Merrill and Bank of America Private Bank clients to contact advisors or management teams for assistance with any questions regarding their accounts.
