The bond between people and their pups will be celebrated in Central Park during DogFest 2022, April 23 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The yearly event supports Canine Companions, a nonprofit organization that provides service dogs, free of charge, to adults and children with disabilities. Facility dogs are also trained for service in the healthcare, criminal justice, and education sectors.

According to the Canine Companions website, the cost of raising and training each of their service dogs and providing the ongoing support necessary for the human-canine team is $50,000. The organization provides their services free of charge and has placed approximately 6,600 service dogs yet more than 400 people with disabilities are waiting for a canine match.

The event will feature vendors, dog agility courses, dog shows and demonstrations from service and working dogs. The fundraising goal is $115,000.
