In honor of Patriot Day, a national day of remembrance for those lost in the attacks on September 11, 2001, the Winter Park Fire-Rescue Department (WPFD) is releasing a four-part documentary series featuring the stories of four of Winter Park’s very own fire service members. The series, titled “Answering the Call,” will be released weekly for viewers to watch online throughout the month of September.

According to a press release announcing the series, each installment will profile a WPFD service member, including “a former pro-soccer player, Florida State University football player, professional boxer, and surfer turned second generation firefighter.”

“Often we see these individuals in their gear or on the fire truck, but behind the bunker, they are our neighbors, family members, loved ones, and even talented athletes,” said Winter Park Fire Chief Dan Hagedorn. “Their dedication to others is immeasurable. We hope their stories inspire people to reach out in support of their local heroes, remember those we’ve lost, or perhaps even pursue a career helping others.”

The videos will be available on the WPFD and City’s Facebook, Instagram, and Vimeo accounts. A teaser video, as well as the first episode featuring engineer and firefighter Erica Hall, are available now.
