Rollins College announced in February that commencement for the class of 2021 will be held in person this May. Ceremonies for the College of Liberal Arts (CLA), Hamilton Holt School, and Crummer Graduate School of Business will all be held outdoors at Showalter Field the weekend of May 8-9. Each graduate will be allotted two tickets for family members to attend.

According to a message posted by President Grant Cornwell on the college’s commencement webpage, the venue is located a short distance from campus and will provide ample outdoor space for social distancing. The field is also equipped with adequate technology that is needed to host the events.

The President stated that the college has been busy searching for a viable solution to holding in-person events this year since the 2020 commencement ceremonies were held virtually due to the pandemic.

“While we joined numerous institutions nationally and around the world that had to make that difficult decision, we know that what makes Rollins special is personal relationships,” Cornwell said. “Therefore, we were determined to develop the best and safest plan that would allow us to provide an in-person experience for our graduates and families this spring.”

2020 graduates of CLA, Holt, and Crummer will also have the option to attend this year’s in-person ceremonies.

All commencement attendees will be required to wear masks for the duration of the ceremonies and there will be access to indoor rooms for those who need to escape the heat. The college will release information at a later data about the livestream option that will be made available.
