Austin Rivers, former Winter Park High School basketball team star and current guard for the Houston Rockets, bought a home in Winter Park earlier this month. Rivers, who led Winter Park High School to back-to-back Florida 6A state championships in 2010 and 2011, acquired the 5,624-square-foot, four-bedroom, six-bathroom home for a price of $4.5 million.
The property, which was built in 2019, is contemporary in style featuring clean, white lines throughout, an open concept kitchen and dining space, marble accents, top-of-the-line stainless steel appliances, and a sleek staircase with metal and glass railings.
The home also includes a large private pool, an outdoor kitchen featuring a brick pizza oven, an indoor gym, a glass-enclosed wine refrigerator, a four-car garage, and a large walk-in master closet. In addition, the home is less than a mile away from Lake Maitland on the Winter Park Chain of Lakes.
The listing’s seller was represented by the Night-Pinel team of the Premier Sotheby’s International Realty Winter Park office. “The Winter Park market has been extremely strong since the lockdown let up,” said John Pinel of the Night-Pinel team. “Our theory is that people have really been focused on their homes, rethinking their space and how they live. A ton of lakefronts have sold on the Winter Park Chain of Lakes – I think more have sold in the past six months than in the previous year. Again, people are just wanting more space and something to do with their kids, and the lakefront allows for that lifestyle.”
Rivers was represented by Shelby Norwich of Olde Town Brokers.
