In favor of protecting the health and safety of the Winter Park community and its visitors during the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 Autumn Art Festival, held annually by the Winter Park Chamber of Commerce, has been canceled.
The chamber’s board of directors weighed many factors upon making this decision. The chamber’s June 4 issue of the Winter Park Weekly newsletter referenced a recent community survey that reported a significant portion of respondents will not be comfortable at events where 1,000+ people are present until a COVID-19 vaccine becomes available, which is projected to happen early 2021. Additionally, even as the state and federal governments ease quarantine restrictions, there remains a possibility of a resurgence of the virus in the fall.
“The COVID-19 pandemic has affected every aspect of the Winter Park Chamber’s operations and this event is no exception,” said Betsy Gardner Eckbert, president & CEO of the Winter Park Chamber of Commerce. “We will, however, begin to resume regular live programming in the late summer.”
